Weekend on Water
3rd or 4th of May & 5th July

Join Brownies, Guides, Rangers and Young Leaders from across the county for a day of adventure!

3rd-4th May at St Ives Sea Scout HQ

On two consecutive dates the 3rd and 4th May we will be running a water activity day at St Ives Sea Scout HQ. The 3rd, for Brownies will include Bellboating and land rafting. The 4th for Guides, Rangers and Young Leaders will include kayaking, coracles, axe throwing and a fire activity. Each participant will get to do a session of each and all sessions will be suitable for complete beginners.

Where: St Ives sea scout HQ, Church Street, St Ives (What Three words ///Cools.Deranged.Apply)

When: Brownies - 3rd of May 9.30am-12.30pm, or 2pm-5pm. Guides 4th of May 9am till 4.45pm (registration 15 minutes before start time)

Cost: £13.50 for Brownies (half day) £25.50 for Guides, Rangers and Young Leaders which includes a badge!

Who: Brownies will need to attend with a unit. Guides, Rangers and Young Leaders can attend without their leaders to this event.

5th July at Ferry Meadows

On 5th July we will be running a water activity day at Ferry Meadows. This event is open to Guides, Rangers and Young Leaders and will include kayaking, bushcraft/fires and bell boats. Each participant will get to do a session of each and all sessions will be suitable for complete beginners.

Where: Ferry Meadows, Ham Lane, Peterborough PE2 5UU (What three words ///cliff.think.amused)

When: 5th July 9.30am till 12.30pm (registration 15 minutes before start time)

Cost: £24.20 for Guides, Rangers and Young Leaders which includes a badge!

Who: Guides, Rangers and Young Leaders can attend without their leaders to this event. 

All equipment including buoyancy aids and helmets where appropriate will be provided. Any safety equipment provided must be worn.

All those taking part will need:

  • soft soled shoes that stay on in the water for the water activities.

  • a complete change of clothes (including underwear and socks)

  • a lightweight raincoat to protect against wind and water.

  • a bag to put wet clothing in

  • a hat and sun cream - reflections on the water increase potential for sunburn even on a cloudy day

  • a towel

  • Lunch and snacks, there will be a tap to refill waterbottles and a small tuck shop, a maximum of £5 can be brought to spend.

  • hair will need to be tied back for the day

  • any medication you need for the day.

As with any open water activities there is a risk of waterborne diseases, all participants should cover any cuts and shower when they arrive home.
